The Eyre Peninsula Showjumping Club Championships are on this weekend, with horses and riders from across the whole EP and around SA competing over the two days. Congratulations to the whole EPSJC committee and volunteers for all their work to present their grounds and facilities so well for such a fantastic event!

The 115th Cleve Annual Show was a great success, with great weather, entertainment and activities for all. It was my pleasure to open the show with the great Brian Smith, and to see show President Lyndon Crosby presented with his life membership. Well done to the whole volunteer team who helped deliver a special event!

The Yallunda Flat Show is a Oct long weekend tradition, and this years 109th annual event saw a glorious day with something for all ages with shearing, horses, music, food & drink, sheepdogs, and much more! Congratulations to Liz Mickan and Steve & Val Briese on receiving their life membership, and to the whole committee led by President Damian Redden for a fantastic day. A special recognition and thank you today to the Voice of EP shows – Brian Smith, who has been coming to Yallunda Flat for 55 years, firstly with his father as the show announcer and then taking on the role himself. His voice across the speakers is such a familiar part of what makes EP shows so special, Thanks Smithy!

@cedunaoysterfest 2024 has been a treat, with something available for everyone! Congratulations to the team of volunteers who have put so much time and effort into delivering a fantastic event which continues today. Well done also to all the West Coast oyster growers for providing such a high-quality seafood product for all to indulge in, and it was good to have the Liberal candidate for Grey @tomvenninggrey there engaging with the local community!

The Coffin Bay oyster industry has been a South Australian success story, growing over the last 30+ years to be a widely recognised brand of high-quality oysters.
@coffinbayshellfish have continued to be at the forefront of the industry, and it was a pleasure to join Glyn & Todd Owen on the water to hear firsthand about the industry, the challenges, and the opportunities ahead for their generational oyster farming business.
An incredible, sustainable industry in a spectacular natural environment.

What a fantastic time had by all at the Eyre Peninsula Field Days over the last few days! There was so much to see and do, and thank you to everyone who popped by my stall or caught up with me around the site. A big congratulations to President Rex Crosby, Secretary Meagan Llewelyn, and the whole committee and wider Cleve community for the incredibly hard work put in to deliver such an spectacular event!

Up the West Coast in the Elliston district today, catching up with community, council, and seeing the spectacular environment which we are so blessed to live in!

At Wudinna for the EP Stud Merino Breeders Association expo today bringing together rams from all over for their breeders to compare genetics and traits! It’s great to see some optimism in an industry which is being challenged on multiple fronts, with generations both young and old represented. @srmerinoandpollmerino @whiteriver_merinos

The seafood industry is a crucial one for the whole State, but especially for the Eyre Peninsula. It was great to be at the Seafood Industry of South Australia awards tonight, and especially to see winners from our region including @kinseafood, @eyrewoolfabalone, @yumbah Hatchery, Seatec, and the SA Sardines Industry Association, as well as due recognition of the latest inductee into the SA Seafood Hall of Fame – Brian Jeffriess.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia facility in Adelaide provides vital accommodation for regional families that have to travel to and stay in Adelaide for medical treatments for their children.
Last year there were 335 different families staying on average 17 nights, importantly saving those families the money and stress of having to find commercial accommodation.
From my region, there have been 153 different families stay over the past 5 years staying 6059 nights total.
With nearly half of the charity’s income comes from fundraising, I’d strongly encourage everyone to get involved where possible in helping sustain such a crucial facility for our regional families.

It was a decidedly maritime day in Port Lincoln on Australia Day, with the One And All in the bay, a big Princess Cruises ship in port, and the Hecla with its full sail on display on a glorious day!

Today was the sod turning for the new CH4 aquaculture facility at Louth Bay for producing asparagopsis which will be used as a cattle feed additive. An exciting economic opportunity for the Eyre Peninsula!

Today was the State Police funeral for Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig, who was killed in the line of duty just over two weeks ago. It was a beautiful service for a man who served his community, including on the Eyre Peninsula, and State for over 30 years, and it was a privilege to be a part of the day. Our police put their lives at risk every day on the job, and it is devastating when such a horrendous incident like this happens.

A special assembly at Cleve Area School this morning to recognise the school year and achievements. It was also a chance to congratulate the graduating Year 12s, with a special thank you from their Reception class buddies! Congratulations especially to Lexi on receiving the Sam Telfer MP Student Award for 2023 for all she’s done in her school community and the community as a whole.
